Nonfarm employment estimates are derived from a survey of businesses to measure jobs by industry. The estimates include all full- and parttime wage and salary employees who worked during or received pay for the pay period which includes the 12th of the month. Excluded from these estimates are proprietors, self-employed workers, private household employees and unpaid family workers.
