The Advanced Search offers several sections of criteria that allow you limit your program search results to those that interest you. Any combination of choices can be made to customize your search.
The first page of this search is illustrated below:
1. The selection criteria available on this page are as follows:
- Limit by type of training
- Select an Area of Study - Choose an area of study from the list to begin to identify the type of training you seek.
Once a choice is made, another selection box will appear for you to Select one or more training categories you are interested in. Hold down the 'Ctrl' key while making selections to choose more than one.
- Enter a program keyword - If you are unable to decide which area of study would pertain to the type of program or course you require, a program keyword can be entered. Only those programs or courses that contain your keyword in their title, or in the title of the training category they are in, will be returned in your results.
- Limit by a provider type
- Select a provider type - Choose the type of provider that would most likely offer the type and scope of training you are interested in.
- Limit by a specific provider
- If a provider type was not selected in the previous section, you can Enter a Provider Keyword in the box provided. Your results will display all programs and courses which contain your keyword in their provider's name.
- If a provider type was selected in the previous section, you can Select one or more Provider names in the box provided. Hold down the 'Ctrl' key while making selections to choose more than one.
- Limit by a related occupation
- Select a School to Career Cluster - Choose one of these occupation categories from the list.
Once a choice is made, another selection box will appear for you to Select one or more occupations. Hold down the 'Ctrl' key while making selections to choose more than one.
- Enter an occupation keyword - If you are unable to decide which occupation category would contain your desired occupation, an occupation keyword can be entered. Only those programs or courses that relate to an occupation that contains your keyword in its title will be returned in your results.
- Limit by area(s)
- Select an area to search - Choose from the following:
- Entire List - Your search will return all providers in our database, regardless of where their training sites are located (default).
- All of CT - Your search results will contain only those providers with Connecticut training locations.
- CT Counties - Clicking this option will provide a list of Connecticut counties from which you can choose one or more (hold down the 'Ctrl' key while making selections to choose more than one).
- CT WIA Regions - The Workforce Investment Act breaks up Connecticut into 8 regions. Clicking this option will provide a list of these regions from which you can choose one or more (hold down the 'Ctrl' key while making selections to choose more than one).
- CT Towns - Clicking this option will provide a list of Connecticut towns from which you can choose one or more (hold down the 'Ctrl' key while making selections to choose more than one).
- Neighboring States - Your search results will contain only those providers with training locations in states bordering Connecticut (MA, NY, RI).
- Limit by the certification/degree that you require
- Select a general award type - Choose the type of certification/degree that is awarded upon completion of the training.
- Limit to programs that lead to a license that you require
- Select one or more license type(s) - Choose the type of license that the program or course should prepare you for.
- Limit by program details
- Program Cost - Choosing the 'Less than' option allows you to enter a maximum total cost in the box provided.
- Program Duration - Choose a range of time that it takes to complete the program or course. The Education & Training ConneCTion defines 'Duration' as the number of weeks,
excluding vacation and holiday periods, that are required to complete the coursework for this program. This does not indicate the number of actual classroom
hours that are required within that time. For more detailed information on when and how often classes meet, please contact the provider.
- Classes offered - Specify when the classes you need should meet. Choose one or more.
2. The features and functions on this page are as follows:
- Search button - Clicking this button will start your search for programs and courses based on your selections.
- Reset button (bottom of the page)- Clicking this button will clear all of the selections you have made.
- Reset this Section links - Click to reset only the choices made in the section the link appears in.
