  Unemployment Rate / Residents Unemployed - State of Connecticut Last Updated: April 14, 2022
The March 2022 unemployment rate for Connecticut was estimated by the BLS Local Area Unemployment Statistics program (LAUS) to be 4.6% (seasonally adjusted), down by three-tenths of a percentage point from the recently revised February 2022 level of 4.9%. The Connecticut jobless rate was 7.0% in March 2021. The U.S. unemployment rate for March 2022 was 3.6%, down two-tenths of a percentage point from the February 2022 rate of 3.8% and down from the March 2021 jobless rate of 6.0%.

Data users must be cautious about trying to compare or reconcile UI claims data with the official unemployment figures derived from the household survey.

NOTE:  The unemployment rate represents the number unemployed as a percent of the civilian labor force. The unemployed are all persons who did not work, but were available for work during the survey week (except for temporary illness) and made specific efforts to find a job in the prior week. Persons waiting to be recalled to a job from which they had been laid off need not be looking for work to be classified.
