The April 2019 unemployment rate unemployment rate for Connecticut is estimated at 3.8% (seasonally adjusted), down one tenth from the revised March 2019 figure and down five-tenths of a percentage point from a year ago when it was 4.3%. The US jobless rate in April 2019 was 3.6%, down three-tenths of a point from April 2018.

NOTE:  The unemployment rate represents the number unemployed as a percent of the civilian labor force. The unemployed are all persons who did not work, but were available for work during the survey week (except for temporary illness) and made specific efforts to find a job in the prior week. Persons waiting to be recalled to a job from which they had been laid off need not be looking for work to be classified.
