  Plan, direct, or coordinate operations and functionalities of facilities and buildings. May include surrounding grounds or multiple facilities of an organization’s campus. Excludes “Administrative Services Managers” (11-3012), “Property, Real Estate, and Community Association Managers” (11-9141), “First-Line Supervisors of Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance Workers” (37-1010), “First-Line Supervisors of Mechanics and Repairers” (49-1011), and “Maintenance and Repair Workers, General” (49-9071).

   Security Managers (ONET code: 11-3013.01)
 
 
  Occupation Description:
 
  Direct an organization's security functions, including physical security and safety of employees and facilities.
 
 
  Typical Tasks:
 
 
  • Analyze and evaluate security operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvement through auditing, review, or assessment.
  • Assess risks to mitigate potential consequences of incidents and develop a plan to respond to incidents.
  • Attend meetings, professional seminars, or conferences to keep abreast of changes in executive legislative directives or new technologies impacting security operations.
  • Communicate security status, updates, and actual or potential problems, using established protocols.
  • Conduct physical examinations of property to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
  • Conduct threat or vulnerability analyses to determine probable frequency, criticality, consequence, or severity of natural or man-made disasters or criminal activity on the organization's profitability or delivery of products or services.
  • Coordinate security operations or activities with public law enforcement, fire and other agencies.
 
Typical Tasks:
 
 
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Acquire, distribute and store supplies.
  • Conduct classes to teach procedures to staff.
  • Dispose of, or oversee the disposal of, surplus or unclaimed property.
  • Manage leasing of facility space.
  • Monitor the facility to ensure that it remains safe, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Oversee construction and renovation projects to improve efficiency and to ensure that facilities meet environmental, health, and security standards, and comply with government regulations.
