Career Pathways
Start by taking a self-assessment to receive a career pathway recommendation specifically for you.

Here are just a few examples of the skills you can learn:

  • Communication/Leadership: Critical Thinking, Decision Making, Personal Skills, Documentation, Leadership, Management, Communication

  • Computer: Networks, Servers, IT, Database Fundamentals, Computer Hardware, MS Excel 2013, MS Excel 2016, Operating Systems, MS Word 2013, MS Word 2016, LAN/WAN

  • Healthcare: Administering Medication, Basic First Aid, Safety (OSHA), Patient Care, HIPAA Knowledge

  • Human Resources: Human Resources Knowledge, Ethics, Staffing/Personnel Knowledge, Administration

  • Manufacturing: Equipment and Tools, Basic Mathematics, Measurement/ Metrics

Occupation
Each pathway contains a few occupations selected based on your knowledge. When you select the best occupation for you, it provides you the information you need to proceed in that occupation, such as average pay, career outlook (if it's bright/growing or declining), and the typical training it needs.

For example, if you choose healthcare from the industry pathway options you were given, you can choose an occupation from the list like: EMT, home health aide, medical assistant, registered nurse or social worker. Once you choose your occupation, you can re-rate your skills and create your own learning plan with the recommended courses.

Skill Tracks & Industry Certifications
Here you can browse the catalog for tracks of courses to develop your skills..Skill tracks are designed to provide groupings of courses based on a particular topic. These course groupings will help you work on variety of basic and introductory skills.

Industry Certification Tracks are designed to prepare you for a certification credential. Each track lists the courses in the order that you should take them. Certification Tracks can range in the number of courses and total training hours involved. After completing the required courses, you must take an exam at a proctored testing center to earn an industry certification. Any exam fees are not included with your Metrix license.

The SkillUp CT program is coordinated by the Connecticut Workforce Development Council (CWDC) in collaboration with the Connecticut Governor's Workforce Council (GWC) and the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL).
